Game developers

Would you allow those willing to donate a few bucks towards development to help you out? I looked up the cost of mmorpg development, from that it looks like you'll need all the help you can get. I mean $20 is the cost of a one time meal, not really going to miss it.

There are various reasons that they do not and can not accept "donations" in terms of donations or "tips".

They have to provide something in return for your money, even if that means a virtual item in your inventory, giftcard or the game promises (also virtual items until the game becomes a game for us to play).

The only way really to contribute your money is by purchasing additional things from the store.

Could donate a mug to them or send them lunch/donuts using door dash.

Send to them through the mail a money order. Done.

I believe the response to that was they would mail it back or decline it

Could always mail them cash with no return address. It's illegal to destroy cash, so they'd be forced to used it or give it to someone

If you want to donate then feel free to buy a gift card or save up the money so that you can buy someone else the game. Do a give away. That gives good press which god only knows they need. It gets another player in . You look good and they get money. It is a win all around.

Haven't we all given them "donations" at this point?

Donations in a business sense is a legal term for funds given to not for profit organizations, usually charities, and the funds given are tax deductible. Different states have different laws concerning donations.

SBS isn't a not for profit/charitable organization.

What was the point of stating different states have different laws, when you can just state the donation laws of Washington where they are based?

Maybe because individual state laws will always apply if you have state income taxes?

Reason: It generally cost 100-500 Million to develop an mmorpg. Look up the cost. I'm guessing they're using a program one of them developed which is why it won't cost them quite that high to push out. Now marketing is different, that's why souls cost so much.
