Heirs aging

It is known that characters never stop aging, and that includes your children. How can I make sure that once I die I get a full lifetime of playing by having a young heir? And my heir not being 48 by the time I die.

Your spark Lasts 52 weeks. So if your child is 48, then you'd get 52 on top of that. Of course you're not guaranteed that 52 weeks due to spirit loss upon Coup de Grace. So if you "die" a lot you'll lose more spirit doing spirit walks. However, if you have high fame you'll require less "deaths" to permadie.

It all depends on how you play, but you'll be able to have that life still. It'll cost more story points to spark into an NTC though so make sure you're doing things!

The average lifetime is 52 years, so if I spark into a 48 year old you are saying he would live 52 years on top of the 48? That doesn't sound right lol

Would I have to calculate when to have an heir son approximately 12 years or so before when I think my character will die so that I can have a full lifetime?

No. You’ll have a full life time still. It’s just a matter of if you want them to live that long or at that age.

I don't think that is correct, it shouldn't be normal for characters to live to over 100 years old, and this was touched up on another post.

no your first son will still age pass 52 it just that after the age 52 (so 53) you can no longer mke that son your heir. they lock the heirs after the age of 52 because the average life is 52 years long so no one will end up with a character over 104 years old

You will no longer to lock in to a character that is 52 years. If they are 48 you can. And youll get the 52 years.

Actually snipehunter explains in discord of sparking into a 60 yr old NTC. But I think it was limited to 52

One more question, is it possible to spark into a recently born NTC that is your heir, rather than a 12 or 15 year old. And if it is possible does it mean you will have a longer lifetime/more playtime? Or will it still be a 52 week period and your NTC will just die naturally before reaching the average life expectancy in in game years?

You can’t spark into anyone that is less than 15 years old as an heir. 12 is only for wards. The longest you’ll ever have is 52 weeks and that is absolutely playing at your safest with no visits to the spirit realm from coup de grace attacks.

Well it depends on what you would like to do ingame. As far I know your age is also influencing e.g. what you can learn. As a young person e.g. fighting and exploring will be easier to be mastered and knowledge might be easier obtained if you are older. Taking a 48 years old heir would e.g. be a good idea if you would like to research new technologies but maybe a less good choice if you would like to explore dungeons.

In the end this might mean that you have to have a larger number of possible heirs and have to decide once your lifetime ends with who you would like to continue your journey…or better what kind of gameplay you would like to prefer in the next weeks.

I think SBS should consider "aging out" NPCs for heir purposes (call it a "venerable NPC"). That is -- an NPC should not longer be an eligible heir after a certain age. If a player really wants to use that NPC as an heir, they can plan and play such as their soul transfers before the NPC become a venerable NPC. (Some earlier posts suggest thtis is already a thing. If it is already a thing, I haven't seen anything about it.)

This could also protect certain key NPCs from soul poaching, allowing them to be more reliably used in settlements, armies, and council.
