Any specialist kingdoms/duchies?

As the title asks, are there any larger groups that intend to specialize in a role? Large standing army, elite craftsman, a woodworking or mining industry, etc? Most of the kingdom posts I've seen are all about celebrating freedom, but specializing can bring great bennefits.

I'm sure there are huge specialist groups in every kingdom. I can think of a few off the top of my head in blackheart. The best thing to do would be to check out the discord and look under recruitment. Every kingdom post there and you will see more specialist groups there as well. I will send you a discord invite for the kingdoms discord and you can see what they have to offer and join any of their groups.

The truth is kingdoms need every type of craft or profession, even if they are going to specialize in one thing. You wouldn't want to turn people away just in case they feel as though they may not fit what you specialize in.

Well I will not play on Angelica but I guess this is more a general question. Kingdoms are the largest structures in CoE representing most of the time multiple biomes and even for the duchies it is not much different. These areas are simply too large to say they are specialized…even if you could say that all kingdoms and duchies are in some kind of way specialized in diplomacy and military while they are doing the dance of dynasties.

The largest specialized structure might be a county but I guess this will be most of the time more a settlement or guild thing with the counts helping the different settlements and their local specializations.

But before you start to think about specialization you need to know what resources are available in a specific region and the current knowledge we can get from the DSS-map is quite thin. E.g. even if we know there is copper mining possible we do not know if the area would allow a raising of the production or if the current production represents already the optimal number of workers as the vein is simply not large enough for more miners. I guess until we can see the region in exposition for the first time trying to set up a specialization as a mayor/count is more or less just wishful thinking…this way specialization is easier for guilds as they can adapt and simply move to another region if their chosen focus is in the real game county not that easy to achieve.

Count of "Wulfsbargen" in the Duchy "Avaland" within the Kingdom "Tryggr". If not explicit mentioned the above opinions are mine alone and do not reflect those of my Duchy or Kingdom.

This is a common observation among new players, but once you realize that players are trying to survive/thrive/succeed at every level, specialization becomes a self imposed handicap the higher up you go.

Yes, players at the most basic level - professions (aka vocations) - can specialize, and the game encourages and rewards players to do that. To become really good at anything requires specialization, but you cannot function well at a kingdom level with a single specialization. Rather, you need many groups specializing in many things and so kingdoms, at least vocationally, look an awful lot alike.

Where they mainly differ though is in the biomes and tribes and people and lore as well as their physical locations on the continent. You will have very different experiences from one kingdom to the next for this reason even as a specialist in the exact same craft.

The biomes will expose you to different kinds of flora, fauna and resources.

The tribes will expose you to different social structures and architectural styles.

The locations will better lend themselves to certain kinds of playstyles than others - the extremes being more isolated and survival oriented with the centers being more metropolitan and trade oriented.

And as for the people? Well if you've played a lot of MMOs then you know that not all people are the same either. Finding a group that you like and can work well with is just as important as everything else. :)

Welcome to CoE.
