Mission Statement
The Coast of Aritaur will be an economic powerhouse in the Kingdom of Vornair. Our dedicated, meritocratic Duchy leadership and County leadership will work together to create a dominant center of wealth, military power, and culture to put the Duchy in the foremost position to explore and expand into new continents.
Counties of the Coast
The people of this region focus on shipbuilding, efficient large- and small-scale trade, ground and naval combat, and coastal resource gathering in a thriving, high-demand international trade environment. The counties of the Coast understand that supply chain logistics are the key to a robust military. The highly proficient military and economic PvP, industrial, interior trade, port trade, and cultural communities have forged strong bonds that together forms a highly organized synergy unique to the rest of Elyria.
Concordia’s stated goal is to be the most fun place in Elyria to be a crafter, trader, or producer. If building a merchant empire from the ashes of development is appealing to you, there is no better place to be.
One of the tightest communities in Elyria, Concordia is a home of the economically savvy. Concordia is situated well to be the economic backbone of both the Coast of Aritaur and the larger Aritaur community, which means there is a great deal of work to do in connecting people together from all reaches of the kingdom.
The citizens of Concordia are united by our love for tabletop roleplaying games. Indeed, our semi-frequent campaigns were what brought us together in the first place and kept our friendship strong through CoE’s lengthy development.
Come join one of the largest and most active homegrown communities in all of Elyria! Our coastal county is a land of opportunity for menn and womenn of all tribes and professions. We will create a mature and relaxed environment where people of diverse backgrounds, interests, and play styles can work together to create the game experience they desire. Here you will find a home and friends to help you find your destiny.
The seat of power and capital of Drake County is the largest delving on the server, Drakinspire, headquarters of The Adventurer’s Guild of Vornair
Drake’s Landing (Stormbreak)
County focused on building up a small elite security army for sea operations. It will have a heavy focus on food production to support its army and trade. It will also have a martial smithing city focused on military equipment. We are the southern defense of Drake county and the Coast.
Within the county, there are 4 goals:
Blending sea and land trade, to operate as a key HQ for East Coast trade,
Develop infrastructure to support passing trade, adding value through high quality facilities and making trade easy,
Build complex structures that ‘stand the test of time’, including Castles or Keeps to provide key defence,
Cultivate renewable resources, in a sustainable way.
Eastmarch also supports the strategic vision of the Coast of Aritaur duchy, by:
Importing rare or exotic resources,
Providing expert ship captains and crew,
Leading research on astronomy and navigation,
Developing food and wood renewable resources.
Lycaon County hosts the Ducal seat of Obsidian. Obsidian serves as the headquarters for the Duchy’s powerful Navy. Lycaon hosts a variety of Mayors and Barons with focuses ranging from animal husbandry, agriculture, resource gathering, trade, to naval and ground combat.
What does it mean to live in Simulutunum Simulutunum
The Rise of Simulutunum
History
Simulutunum has a long history and close ties to Lycaon County, our Duchies Capital county. Our overall goal is to try to provide intermediate products to the different members of our Duchy in order to fuel a great Navy that the entire Duchy supports. We seek to support our members to the best of our ability to promote commerce and we also promote our Arena and have special surprises ahead relating to said arena.
A strong navy requires a thriving wood industry. Armies need shields, crossbowman and archers. And taverns need chairs for the weary sailors home from the raids to sit upon. Lupa Realta plans to be a major supplier of all things made of wood. From the largest ship to the smallest trinket I plan to supply the timber needed. But we are not a one trick pony! My county will have the versatility to shift its production to the needs of the Duchy.
The best place to find some grub while traveling away. Magurba plan is to over produce food in order to feed the many masses that other counties have.
Leadership
The Coast of Aritaur is part of an alliance and cooperative leadership structure with the Conclave of Aritaur.
The Aritaur government values Balance. In support of that, the government is divided into two departments: the Council of Counts (CoC) and the Elder Council. The Elder Council is a merit selected executive body, providing support in drafting and managing policy. The CoC is the legislative body, consisting of Counts or their delegates, and is purposed to provide representation to the Duchy level of government. This body, along with the Duchess, votes on Duchy policies brought forward by Counts and the Elder Council. Furthermore, their decisions empower the Elder Council with authority for its day-to-day responsibilities.
Economics and Taxes
The Coast of Aritaur believes in keeping taxes at the Duchy level as low as possible, to facilitate more activity at the County and city levels. All Duchy-wide programs are agreed through the CoC, and we prioritize giving as much freedom to our member Counts as possible to support Duchy-wide programs, and for Counts to run them in their Counties in a tailored way that meets their needs. Several programs are being established to further maximize the support provided to guild leaders, traders, and other commercially savvy individuals. One such program is the Economic Council, established to allow private citizens a way to ensure the government is working for them.
Guiding Principles
Family: The Coast of Aritaur holds the community we are building above all else, including personal success in game. We believe if we have a gaming community that people can’t wait to log into every night, success will follow with the quality team we have built. This game is too complex for instant gratification solo achievement that many MMOs have become. We are thoughtfully selecting members to our solid drama free team.
Unity: Our team is focused on our mission statement and goals. Some groups in this DUchy will do better than others, that’s OK. But in the end we have eachothers back to keep pressing forward to our goals. Remember, we are but the few that will be here at launch. The bonds formed getting to launch will be key to success.
Perseverance: The teams from pre-game COE that persevere the launch challenges will be forged by fire! These teams will endure. We intend to be around for a long time. Come cut your teeth with us if you do too!
Honor: We will adhere to doing things the right way. Our group will be regarded with the utmost in COE.
Loyalty: We are loyal to each other and our vision. Trust is the foundation of our group.
Our Story
Hundreds of years before the War of Many Banners, the Hrothi populations along the coast were frequently targeted by Brudvir coastal raiders from the North. These Brudvir raiders learned early in their development the art of building boats for coastal travel utilizing resources from the forest. They particularly learned to navigate at night exceptionally well. They raided along the alpine forest coastline for hundreds of years. The Brudvir eventually created small villages and migrated northern populations South in search of better farmland and mineral resources. Many counties throughout the Coast of Aritaur, from Drake’s landing in the south to Eastmarch in the north, experienced this Brudvir influx.
The Hrothi populations viewed the northern Brudvir as invading savages, especially in the neighboring Duchy of the Conclave of Aritaur. For hundreds of years there was civil unrest along the coast between the civilized Hrothi and the occupying savage Brudvir until the War of Many Banners broke out. The war posed an existential threat on the population of the Kingdom’s lands. The Duchess of Aritaur brokered an alliance between the Conclave of Aritaur and the coastal populations to defend the Kingdom of Vornair.
During the war, years of hatred and distrust were replaced by respect, admiration, and loyalty as all of Vornair faced the common enemy. The military prowess and seamanship of the Brudvir earned them a revered status, thus removing the “savages” animosity towards them. Brudvir taught the Hrothi combat tactics, hunting, shipbuilding, and naval skills, while the Hrothi taught the Brudvir mining, smithing, farming, and overall civics. The Brudvor populations not only learned the civil structure of the Kingdom, they also learned the value of trade during the war. Trade would mostly replace raiding as the coastal way of importing goods. The coast began a significant trade exchange with the interior of the Duchy for iron, food and hardwoods. The unification of these two tribes away from home on the battlefield laid the foundation for the modern day Coast of Aritaur.
Today, the Coast of Aritaur’s tumultuous history between Brudvir and Hrothi can only be read about in History books. However, the keen observer would notice the port cities of coast as mostly Brudvir influenced and the inland merchant trading settlements as mostly Hrothi influenced. The coastal people are a rugged folk with many years spent in the cold sea sprayed region of the Alpine Forest, which is their main unifying characteristic, because a quick glance throughout the Counties shows much diversity. Sailors, soldiers, merchants, miners, woodsman, farmers, breeders, brothel owners and many other sorts all call the Coast of Aritaur home.
