Hailing from the harsh and unforgiving tundra of Lyon, in the far north of Demailion, the Ó Foaláin have long been a well-known family of protectors of the weak and vulnerable. The county is renowned for its formidable fighters, who are both trustworthy and loyal. Down the centuries, they served House Lyon nobly, cementing their strength, honour, and prowess, fighting alongside storied legends like Conn of the Hundred Battles. In thanks, they were rewarded with their own lands and a place at the table of nobles. From there, the Ó Foaláin used their strength to protect their borders, showing a great respect for even the simple caravan guard, as well as illustrious ranks of war. Because of this, their home Cil Chainnigh became a safe and thriving trade hub in Lyon. Cil Chainnigh and the surrounding towns and villages are also known for their prestigious schools, both of trade and fighting, for one will surely fail without the other. Every four years, the Pack grows, swelling with ranks of new cubs, eager to prove themselves. Throughout the county, great tournaments are held from the towers of Cill Chainnigh to the open fields of even the smallest hamlet. The victors of these tournaments are invited to join the Wolves, allowing them to begin the years of training and study that will one day afford them a place within the Pack. Internally, the Wolf Pack holds their own tournament as well, to challenge those above them for rights, honour, or status. These fights are held in a spirit of fierce competition, but without rancour or division - the strongest wolf must always be the alpha of the pack, and in this, the whole pack grows stronger. The victors of these tournaments not only gain the respect of the Pack, but also have been known to win armour, weaponry, and carefully bred horses. Some go further, suggesting that there are rewards that go beyond, to touch the very soul and mind of the fighters. Their reputation as skilled and loyal affords them excellent chances not only in their homeland, but all across the duchy of Lyon and beyond, as they risk life, limb, and reputation to ensure that the vital trade lifeblood of the duchy moves to the heartbeat of their march. Resplendent in the sky-blue and gold of Lyon, bearing the wolf on their breast, the Ó Foaláin seeks new cubs for the Pack.
