Welcome to Siren's Shore

Siren's Shore is a x6 county focused on advancing any and all naval and maritime pursuits. Our county will be focusing on building bigger and better ships to be used for war, privateering, merchanting, transportation, and fishing. As ocean capable vessels are discovered, it will become our prime objective to locate and discover the Mydarri tribe.

The Stronghold of The Last Song will be host to a grand library called The Akashic Athenaeum, which will house all manner of books, scrolls, and recipes. It is also planned for the existence of an art/artifact section included similar to a museum. More information can be found --> here <--.

Members of the Count's Council

Viscount

The Viscount is the Count's chief adviser and executor of his commands. Duties of the Viscount include assisting the Count in the day-to-day running of The Last Song and the county. Other duties include maintaining the counties resources, finances, and foreign diplomacy. The Viscount will be the head of the Count's personal council when the Count is unable to attend, and acts on the Count's behalf when he is indisposed or traveling outside of Siren's Shore. (You must reside within The Last Song while holding this position.)

Captain of the Sirenguard

Members of the Sirenguard are the defenders of the Siren's Shore and are the enforcers of the law, sworn only to the Count. The Captain of the Sirenguard is a position appointed by the Count, and is in charge of the Sirenguard members stationed in The Last Song and making sure the Count is kept apprised of the happenings within the city. The Captain of the Sirenguard holds a position on the Count's personal council. (You must reside within The Last Song while holding this position.)

Grand Maester

The Grand Maester is appointed by, and is a member of, the Archmaesters of The Akashic Athenaeum. The Grand Maester is in charge of the counties knowledge, health, and educational centers, as well as maintaining relations between the Count and The Akashic Athenaeum. The Grand Maester holds a position on the Count's personal council. (You must reside within The Last Song while holding this position.)

Grand Ambassador

The Grand Ambassador is in charge of maintaining domestic relations between the different settlements within the county, as well as the Count. The Ambassador is in charge of meeting with the different members of Aristocracy within Siren's Shore, as well as establishing and maintaining trade routes in and out of the county. The Grand Ambassador holds a position on the Count's personal council. (Frequent visit's to The Last Song and other settlements in the count are necessary to hold this position.)

Chief Justiciar

The Chief Justiciar acts as the mediator between the Count and the people of Siren's Shore. The Chief Justiciar is responsible for relaying proposals for new laws and complaints to the Count. The Chief Justiciar is also in charge of overseeing the portion of the Sirenguard that patrol and secure the county, excluding those stationed inside of settlements, and seeing to the safety and security of Siren's Shore. The Chief Justiciar holds a position on the Count's personal council. (Frequent visit's to The Last Song and various parts of the county are necessary to hold this position.)

Along the shoreline of current day Vornair lies Siren's Shore. This grand county, like Vornair itself, is relatively young. Not the land, nor the towns and it's peoples, but merely it's name. Siren's Shore and her seat of power, The Stronghold of The Last Song, once had a proud and grand history, and was known by a different name. This land had once been known as The Arbor, and her capital had been Donau. This was before the formation of Vornair and the rule of the Deranged King of Xelias.

The Arbor had been a bustling oceanfront trading hub, exporting all manor of wines, meads, and ales up and down the coast and the river. She was a beautiful land, with an even more beautiful people in those days. Then came the attack. The Deranged King had made it his goal to conquer the Scattered Lands once and for all, and began to relentlessly attack from as many fronts as he could muster. The Arbor, being located on a grand peninsula that separated the capital city of Xelias to the western High Seas, was one of the first to see troops upon her doorstep.

The surprise attack on The Arbor had nearly overwhelmed them, but her people were fierce and loved their home, and fought back with all they had. It took Xelias nearly a year before the people of The Arbor were defeated and pushed beyond the small mountain that showed Donau, being forced to hear news that those captured during the battle had been given a 'trial' before being strung up and left hanging by their necks in the streets of beautiful Donau. The rage and pain of their loved ones being murdered for their false 'crimes' of treason and sedition, gave the people of The Arbor the strength to formulate a plan to repel the Deranged King's forces once and for all.

Gathering the remaining river boats that were still afloat, they filled them with their most beautiful and talented of lady bards, and sent them down the coast and up the river. As their voice and songs filled the camps and stolen homes of Donau, the remaining fighters of The Arbor laid in wait, ready for the ambush. When the enemies attentions had all but been entranced by the beautiful women and their voices, they struck. The attack was swift and violent, and in the end, half of the invading force had fallen to the sword. In vengeance, the other half were condemned to the gallows at the top of what would became known as Hangman's Hill. To this day, on particularly quiet nights, you can still hear the alluring songs of those bards whispering quietly in the background, the last song's those invaders would hear, leaving many to believe Siren’s still watch over their lands to this day.

The Arbor may have won its fight for freedom, but in the end they had been defeated. What remained of their once beautiful county had been changed and tarnished by bloodshed and war. Ser William Redwyne, the leader of the resistance after the Count and his family had been captured and hanged, was named as the new Count and lord of the land. With a new leader, came a new name. In honor of the women who braved the hordes and distracted the enemy forces, The Arbor was renamed Siren's Shore. To this day, laws in Siren's Shore dictates that only a female bard may perform in her ruling city.

Speaking of Donau, it too underwent a change. Gone was the flowery opulence that it had once been, and left behind was the taint of those who had died there. Newly christened as The Stronghold of The Last Song, they sought to protect those in the future from punishment of 'crimes' that they had not witnessed and could make their own judgment upon. Those who were wanted for outside crimes would be able to seek shelter within Siren's Shore's borders, so long as they obeyed the laws of the county. While these changes left room for true criminals to find shelter within their borders, many innocents have also been saved by Siren's Shores new way of life.
