Ah’wena, The City of Ah’wena, Divine Inspiration. Logistic Information NA-E Luna Server Kingdom: Bordweall Duchy: Solas Seidrellia County: Sha’harizi Countess & Mayor: Kitlandria Discord: Kitlandria#2349 Keywords: PvE, Research & Development, Roleplaying & Storytelling, Healing, Mysticism, Cuisine, Culture & Bardic Arts, Survival Introduction to Ah'wena

The heart of Sha’harizi County, Ah’wena stands as a beacon of peace and pleasure. Don't be fooled by our beauty and hedonism, though! The City of Ah'wena is a hub for trade crafts, medicine, cuisine, education, entertainment, and socialization - not to mention the presence of some fierce survivalists and stalwart guard forces. To achieve this, we promote a thriving marketplace, university, and bustling tavern, among other things.

Citizens of Ah’wena will have many opportunities to PvE through trade, crafting, survival gameplay, and social contracts. The University, Wena il’g’hanira Samani, will offer three schools covering: Bardic Arts, Cuisine, and Healing/Herblore along with opportunities for Research & Development. While we won't be hardcore PvPers, more adventurous gameplay will exist through the mysterious guerrilla warfare group known as the “Draethryn,” as well as the “Aecir” who guard the town.

Above all… Here in Ah'wena, we are storytellers. While you do not need to be a roleplayer to participate in the culture of Ah’wena, know that it is the immersion we create that will bring players back over and over again to visit, trade, and build lasting relationships.

Our team of writers, storytellers, and dreamers plans to integrate story opportunities to help augment already developing RP and character immersion that is built through the Soulborn Engine. We will take these threads and weave them into the game with larger plots. We enjoy creating ongoing stories to help facilitate our journey into the 10 year story, this amazing dynamic world, and the individual cultures each of us as players creates.

For more information, please see the following posts on our various organizations, history, lore alliances, and more! We hope to welcome you to Ah’wena and Sha’harizi soon.

Lore in Progress

About eight hundred years ago, a Drasean traveler named Elyn Rizi discovered a towering oak tree in the grasslands. She had traveled far North-East of her homelands in the swamps, beckoned by some unknown force that seemed to pull at her very soul. When she discovered the great tree, it is said she had a vision of how it came to Elyria, a story so wonderful and inspiring, it drove her to tell it until the end of her days. She began to spread the tale of the Bloodoak, and people flocked to her side to hear the stories.

From Elyn Rizi’s inspiration, others wishing to spread the stories came. The Oakenroot were born: a mystical faction seeking to tell of the magnificent Bloodoak. Military minded individuals formed the Thornbrud, clans who under this banner allied themselves with the Oakenheart. The Brud vowed to protect the Oakenroot as they studied the ways of spirit, culture, pacifism, and lore-keeping.

Overtime, the Oakenroot claimed a great deal of the territory near the Bloodoak, and established a great library in the North-West of the kingdom’s territory. The Sharizi, those descended from Elyn Rizi, paved the path for the Oakenroot. The Sharizi built a library, often called the Athenaeum, just due north of Vali, the city they held. Many others came to work there, and soon the Athenaeum was a place of great reknown.

Here, all the knowledge of the tribes, religions, politics, lore, and culture were collected, along with many renditions of the Bloodoak story. Elyn Rizi’s bloodline became known as the Sharizi, and they were almost always in the position of “Oakheart,” leader of the Oakenroot. Unfortunately, this oasis of knowledge, culture, and peace would not last. In the late late 650s, the First Warden (King) of Bloodoak formed an alliance with the nearby kingdom of Xeilias by agreeing to marry the Oakheart heir, Imreys, to the foreign king’s daughter, Dierdrin. Marrying for any reason other than love was completely against Sharizi culture, but First Warden Ektsil pushed, stating it was for the good of the kingdom.

It was not. Almost 10 years after the forced wedding, a Xeilias-Bloodoak heir was finally born: Sutorys.

On the babe’s first birthday, a grand festival was held. Xeilias, however, did not arrive for the festivities, but rather for bloodshed. As they attacked, the first wave was a decisive blow against the Sharizi bloodline, wiping out their nearby town of Vali before sweeping in to destroy the Oakenroot Library: the Athenaeum.

As the fires began and the first killing blow landed upon Imreys’s father, Imreys panicked. Gathering his things - the divining deck passed down through his family for generations, his journal, and a favored book of stories, Imreys grabbed his son, and attempted to flee. Confronted by Xelian warriors, he was certain he would die, until a familiar face appeared. Ta’Ah’Lah, the lover he’d been forced not to wed, saved him but was lost in the conflict. Dierdren, too, was killed.

Although the Thornbrud came to the rescue as soon as word reached them, it was too late. They were able to drive back or kill the remaining Xeilians, but only few associated with the Oakenroot and the Sharizi survived.

His homelands on fire, his future destroyed, Imreys did what he thought he must. He fled to the woodland savannah to the south with his son and his bound sereadae. Together with sereadae Azesax, Imreys spent the last of his years in hiding, teaching Sutoryus the ways of the Sharizi in the hopes that one day, their old traditions might come alive once again.

Although Bloodoak was then in the midst of an ongoing war against Xeilias, Sutoryus came out of hiding. After his father’s death, he stepped forward seeking those wishing to return to Elyn Rizi’s original heartlands. He was not entirely sure where it was, but possessed some ancient records and maps. Most importantly, Sutorys had a will to reclaim his heritage, as well as an intense drive to reinstate a seat from which the old Sharizi culture could be reborn.

So he set out with a band of travelers and wanderers looking for a home: in the next year, Ah’wena would begin to be built.

The Concept of Ah'wena

There is a shared belief amongst many Sha’harizii that there is a creative energy alive in the universe - a flowing spirit of sorts that spurs the inspirations of souls. In the native pidgin tongue, Tonasyn meaning the Voice of the Blood, Ah’wena translates to divinity and inspiration. The settlement attempts to find these principles in all things it does. This concept is represented as three rays extending from three orbs. The triad represents the three elements of earth, air, and water, as well as the three physical, mental, and spiritual or emotional aspects of being.

Of the many things Ah’wena citizens draw inspiration from, there are a core trio of focuses: bardic, culinary, and medicinal arts. Those finding their homes in Ah’wena pride themselves in their fine food, intuitive healing arts, and visual, musical, and spiritual expressions of the divine bard within everyone. These elements are layered throughout the settlement. While any craft or trade might be found in the bustling marketplace, those that draw off the wild lands’ flora and fauna or the muse within each Mann are most likely to be represented. For this reason, Ah’wena houses a university, Wena il’g’hanira Samani, where people can come from distant lands or neighboring settlements to study such arts with esteemed educators.

Ah’lanya - Divine Pleasure

Ah’wena is a place to relax, rejuvenate, and commune with the highest levels of consciousness. This concept is so important within this culture that there is a special word meaning divine pleasure - Ah’lanya. People attempt to attain Ah’lanya by whatever means personally pleases them - whether that be food and drink, entertainment, interfacing with nature, socializing, smoking special herbs, or pursuing sensual touch. Ah’wena also supports the Night Court, or Tah’Midna Cahlei, for those who founded the settlement saw the connections between people as being one of the most important energies in the world. Tah’Midna Cahlei is a place where citizens and guests alike can come for entertainment, conversation, education, and even to arrange for the birth of an heir. There is absolutely no shame about the Children of Mann’s sensuality, and Ah’wena sees to it that people are able to be open with their inmost desires and that which ignites their inner creative flame.

Many rituals exist to help people find what sparks their Ah'lanya. Healers of the mind, Airaquerti, can help people find what eases their mind and soul.

Communion with Nature

Nature’s bounty, Ma’g’hanira, is considered the most blessed gift to Ah’wenans. Equal parts mysticism, knowledge, and fine arts, Ah’wena is certainly not without its wilder side - that which literally is and interfaces with nature. It is with the gifts of the lands that chefs can create fantastic dishes, bards can create their instruments, and healers can cure the most advanced ailments and wounds.

It is not uncommon at all to find that citizens of Ah’wena have an open relationship with the natural herbs, fruits, and other substances that might yield to altered states of consciousness. It is not unheard of for even the Mayoress herself to partake in rituals that utilize the high created by certain mixtures when smoked or drank.

Even the killing of wildlife for food is not without its rituals and prayers in this society. The deliberate destruction of nature without honor and purpose is considered a crime in Ah’wena.

Mysticism & Ritual

Arcora and Rizi are two highly esteemed positions within Ah’wena. The Arcora is considered the highest position within Ah’wena, often synonymous with the mayor as well as the Grand Mystic or Kal’Rizi. As the High Seer, the Arcora is responsible for overseeing the future of the lands in a physical and spiritual sense.

The Arcora holds the knowledge and wisdom of how to perform the ritual of Braveth Agria, or “Divining the Branching Energies.” The Arcora attempts to see what forces are at play in the pathways of life using oracle cards that have been passed down over generations. These cards are called the Agria Bravi or “Divining Leaves.” Only the Arcora possess the knowledge of the meaning and creation of each card.

“Rizi” are mystics who perform “lynari,” rituals designed to worship, inspire, or bless. Rituals may help encourage a bard before a performance, bless the wounded or those about to go to battle, or simply to enact larger, more powerful prayers. When performing lynari, Rizi call upon the powers of the land, the ancestors, and the Il’g’hanir Senteri. A codex known as t’Elynari serves to codify the intricacies of the various lynari which Rizi are called upon to perform.

There is no formal school for Rizi, but those wishing to enter the path of mysticism need only to approach to the Arcora to see if they are fit for a future in the ancient arts. All citizens, however, are likely familiar with the smaller rituals such as the prayers and invocations said over meals or when an animal is slaughtered.

Il'g'hanir Senteri

Many Sha'harizii practice one of the major religions of Elyria in addition to calling upon the spirits of the Senteri for guidance in their day to day lives. These spirits are thought to aid all Sha'harizii, as well as those destined to become Sha'harizii. In some cases, it is said that menn from as far north as the alpine tundra have been called south to the swamps by a Senteri who knows their greater purpose.

The acorns that fell from the Bloodoak (Synduir) became the seven Sentinels (Senteri). These sentinels, being born of a great tree, were sometimes conceptualized and visualized as trees, though this physical manifestation acts as a secondary descriptor. In most cases, the Senteri are visualized as spiritual beings without true form or gender, save for their manifestations within the domains they govern. For example, Valduir is considered to be anywhere there is earth or stone. How these Sentinels act and the ascribed features with which those of Sha’harzi refer to them is less important than their manner of existence in the natural order.

PvE Focuses:

Healing & Culinary arts - Potion making, bandage making, medicines, alchemy, etc. (Whatever we're able to do with healing.) We also plan to provide only the best of foods to those passing through! Come one and all healers and chefs!

Crops & Agriculture - If we can grow it, we would like to! We would like to have locally sourced ingredients for our herbal tinctures, wines, and fresh meals. Farmers will be one of the most important character types in our town!

Armorers & Weaponsmiths - As a largely craft oriented town, Ah'wena would love to feature some master smiths, armorers, or other types of craft traders. Please feel free to contact us about setting up space for your trade!

Artisan Crafts - Painting, writing, poetry, sculpture, flower arrangement... Pretty much anything artsy! If you are a crafter, you'll be pretty well welcome here.

RP Focuses:

Bardic Arts - Similar to artisanal crafts, we need bards to entertain at our tavern, in our Night Court, and to teach at our university. Do you plan to play a singer, poet, painter, instrumentalist, dancer, acrobat or something else? We have a place for you here!

Rest & Relaxation - We want to offer whatever sorts of rest opportunities we can offer to the denizens of Elyria, especially those residing in Sha'harizi County. This will include some sort of spa or medicine house, smoke house, Night Court, and inn (as the game allows). We will need roleplayers and PvEers to fill the roles of crafters and traders, servers, spa and medical attendants, and so on. This, of course, has a PvE element as well since we know it will be important for characters in CoE to rest and eat.

Play out whatever life you want! We hope to bring many roleplayers through to socialize, play townspeople, crafters, traders, shadow warriors, and many more.

PvP/Combat Focuses:

Draethryn - An elite force of survivalists and shadow warriors who know the land around Ah'wena inside and out. They participate in guerrilla warfare and stealth tactics to take out necessary targets. (RP lite/optional). Actively recruiting players interested in playing survival based combat ready characters who roam, hunt, live off the land and act as boundary wardens / scouts for the County of Sha'harizi.

Aecir - The Aecir are Ah’wena’s guards. Caring, protective people, they respect the arts and pursuits of the Arcora and the people, but often do not pursue bardic avenues themselves. The Kal’Aecir is the Head Guard, personally watches over the mayor. Aecir frequently pursue other crafting careers aside from just being guards finding particular interest in armor and weaponsmithing.

The Draethryn of Sha'harizi County, Solas Seidrellia The Draethryn are a survival & PvP group within Sha'harizi County, Solas Seidrellia, Bordweall If a wild, free, and primal experience are something that piques your interest, then don't be a stranger. Come on down to Sha'harizi in Discord and find out if the Draethryn tribe is right for you! Discord Our Sacred Oath & Beliefs The Aecir are the sworn vanguard of Ah’wena, ever vigilant as we protect the hallowed Arcora. She alone speaks for the Seven, and therefore, the people. It is our oath to give our lives for those that live within these sacred lands and to see to it that the Arcora is always safe to seek her visions, as the descendant of the great Elyn Rizi. Through our diligence, those that aspire to live their lives with zeal, those who walk the spirit path, and those that pursue the arts and wild ways, may live in harmony with the land and stars. We stand to keep the ancient traditions alive by ensuring that the town of Ah’wena itself, its inhabitants, and all it stands for is never conquered. No matter what threat we may face, we must protect the last of the original seeds of the Oakenroot people. This culture shall never be lost. The Il'g'hanir Senteri will be our sovereign idols and will bind us together in belief. Il'g'hanir Senteri are “Those Who Stand by the World. These seven spirits represent our core standards and will bless us in day to day life. They will watch over us and guide us in times of struggle and strife or peace and prosperity. What We Do The Aecir serve as town guards and personal bodyguards to the people of Ah’wena. The Aecir submit directly to the Kal’Aecir and Tah’Aira (the mayors of T’Aejo and Ah’wena respectively). Ah'wena being an RP hub, PvP may be few and far inbetween for many of our players; as such, we must diligently train our combat prowess whether we are in times of peace or war. PvP, of course, does not provide the only need for protection. PvE elements in the world of Chronicles of Elyria may pose unexpected threats. The guard may be required to fend off beasts, NPC raiders, or help in times of disease, famine, or other natural disasters. They truly stand as the backbone of Ah’wena.

We want people to be inspired by what the wild world around them has to offer - but beyond that, we want to titrate a sense of health and wellness down into a fine brew. As such, each branch of the school is an assembly of some sort that focuses on a specific set of skills and trades.

A very impressive and well written introduction of your settlement.

Your focus on RP brings back memories from my time living in player run settlements during my Ultima Online days. I am pretty sure you will have a thriving RP community!

Alas, a shame I shall not be able to visit as I will be playing on the EU server.

The best of luck in building up Ah'wena's community!
