violence

I've been wondering for some time now how bad the violence is and I have some questions. First, is there blood in the game? I hope not because I want this game to be for all people and I don't want violence like Red Dead Redemption 2 because it is just too brutal. Second, is there any swearing? Since it is medieval times I feel swearing would just be out of place and it would take away from the game.

I really don't think there is a game that can be for all people. With the 'Dance of Dynasties' being at the heart of CoE, there is a big part for adults to play here. Having said that, the level of violence is typically implemented client-side so you can adjust the level of gore to your liking. We'll know more as development progresses further.

You don't think people swore in medieval times?

Medieval swearing involved blasphemy and the figurative dismemberment of God. All in all, I think modern swearing is mild in comparison.

You don't think when a village became invaded by Vikings and slaughtering everyone within, and amongst the chaos, a villager said to himself "Oh f*" ?

Now with that being said, I'm not sure what ESRB rating SbS is going for CoE, but for reference, the popular medieval game Kingdom Come: Deliverance is rated M, and that didn't carry very much gore or profanity, but just enough to be realistic with the times.

Here's a link to the ESRB site, each rating has its own limitations on what it could have, but it doesn't need to have all of them. ESRB Ratings

Actually, I think it was the Vikings who were more famous for swearing. The villager might say "God's balls" -- and the Viking would say "Don't worry about God's balls, when I take yours and shove the up your buttocks until you can taste them, you sh.. gobbler."

I know that at that time period they had their own swearing but hey I want to get a picture of this game and I don't like swearing or blood and gore. I'm glad that you can choose how much blood and gore you want, and I hope you can bring it down to zero. And if they have any modern or medieval swearing I hope you can choose how much you want.

There isn't enough.

In all seriousness CoE is definitely going for an M from everything that's been confirmed. Like cannibalism.

..I wish to remind you that this is an MMO. MMOs cannot be fully rated because there is player interaction, which ensures at least some cursing will occur. Its possible there will be a chat filter, but it won't catch everything.

ref This game was a dream. Its dead now.

I know you can't control online players speech, but NPC's you can.

Swearing was quite common in Ancient - Medieval times. More so than it likely is now.
