The County of Vigil

The County of VIgil

.

Within the duchy of Calador

Under the Kingdom of Valyria

We seek to provide an environment to roleplayers and casual players alike to explore and invest their time in.

About

Vigil is an economically focused county aiming to offer secure trade and transport along the coastline. Not only do we wish to offer goods and services from all around Elyria, but we wish to give all those living within our borders a chance to enjoy their time in this world.

Adventure, fame, wealth, or simply a wholesome life lived mildly. It's our goal to try and create an environment full of opportunities.... something people from all walks of life can enjoy!

The Vigil community has also recently celebrated the 2nd Anniversary! We have many faces, new and old, but I'm grateful for those who have stuck it out,and are still with us!

Settlements

Pyre

The Capital of Vigil.

A bustling city split between the trees and the forest floor. Although originally a Kypiq settlement along the Ironwoods, the influx of Neran and Hrothi citizens called for development along the ground. So above you see the bridges and ziplines going about your average Ironwood town. While below, a standard Neran settlement can be found in its early stages of growth.

As night falls, one light towers above all... an eternal flame, perched in the tallest tower of the city.

Lanerus

The town of Lanerus, ran by Dr. Akavari Annicchiarico Ph.D, will be akin to a University Campus, hosting a school by the name of Lorica Lexiconus, which aims to become one of the top research guilds in the land!

A Guild of Scholars. Where we wander, always seen Above the ground, below the scene. Follow trails, find their source. Learn it all, shared of course. Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall. Searching now, searching all. Seeking scholars, new and old. To seek the knowledge, all untold. Study to learn, craft what you've grown. Together we work, to reap what we've sown. To learn in the world that's been left upon us. We invite you to join: Lorica Lexiconus.

Much more to come, golden like a medallion For more information, PM Italian Stallion#8950 (On Discord)

"Lorica Lexiconus is an academy aiming not only at providing a quality education, but acting as a haven for scholars and researchers to come and discover communally for the sake of knowledge"

The Barony of Emberhold

The military might of the County of Vigil. As an extension of the Emberguard (The County Guard) is this fortified Settlement is merely held by Baron Eloo Kiefer and mainly it is focused on providing security to the countryside and bases of operation to the Emberguard and Vigils militia.

The Town of Nodus Tollens

"The idea behind it is to be a trade settlement for goods and ideas. Getting people what they want and where they want to go. Id like to have a large bazaar area that shows off dozens of shops someday. Warehouses to store items for sale and banks to hold money and private property. Maybe if the engine allows a stock market"

Lore

The culture of Vigil centers around flame, a motif from the early years, when the name "Vigil" was that of a hamlet on the frontier.

"The heat of the bonfire is what kept us settlers warm during the coldest nights. The torch flame illuminated the surrounding woods, frightening our predators and allowed us to know the area. It cooks our food, starts our forges, and provides simple comfort...

When someone was lost, we allowed them to be consumed by the fire. With all it has done for us, It's only right we give back... and as it turned out to be a welcome gesture..." - Mayor Lodricke Ardent, founding father, first holder of the Phoenix.

The town's borders grew with time, as did its influence. When the seat of Count went up for grabs, it was Sir Coppernicus Ardent who rose to the occasion, taking the town's name to the County stage, and remaining his city "Pyre",

Over the decades, the reverence of fire simmered down a bit, but many felt necessary to hold true to the traditions of their fathers, you can see this in Vigil's (expanding) list of Holidays!

Holidays

The Phoenix Festival: The Phoenix is one of the last remaining reminder that magic did once exist in the world. At the end of its life cycle, it burns out into ash. That night we begin the preparations for the festival. The day after its rebirth, the Phoenix Festival is held. A rekindled Phoenix represents the rekindled spirit of mann. What better way to celebrate than a feast with your fellow citizens? It's traditional to give your closest of loved ones gifts on this day, but don't let that stop you from spreading the joy to strangers who may need it!

Candlestick Day: Candles are similarly respected in the community to fire itself. A candle can represent many different things, and it differs amongst each person, typically life. Longevity in a candle is desirable. Quick-burning candles are signs of imminent passing, or bad luck. On this day, citizens commemorate the fallen, every family burns a candle all the way through.

Jubileum: A generational celebration for the patriotic citizens of Vigil. It's held on the same day every 52 years in honor of Vigil's founding. A special brand of mead will be sold during this period. With the skills of the local brewmaster, it's famed for its quality and it's limited availability.

TL;DR

-PvP, PvE, or RP may vary from settlement to settlement, but we encourage it all!

-Recruiting all levels of pledges!

-Focus on trade, sailing, shipbuilding, exploration, crafting, and resource gathering. We welcome all types, however, so don't be discouraged.

Update 10/2/2019

We have claimed our domain within the County of Brownlast Heights!

Though, some time ago, an unknown mayor claimed the Hamlet of Cutterwind (marked as "unknown" on the map). I'm incredibly interested in meeting up with this person, if anyone has any information that'd lead to finding them, it'd be much appreciated! Feel free to pm me on this site.
