Game Guide

Hi all!

Will there be a full guide book for the game before it comes out? Similarly how they describe each race now but also...

  • Explaining what sort of skill and how much of it is needed before you can do certain things.
  • What sort of materials needed and how much of them needed in order to build or make something.
  • Catalogue of individual plants, animals, foods, materials, tools, parts etc where you can learn their properties, how they are good, how they are bad, what they are, how to make them or with them, how to look after them, what is needed and how much of it.

An imaginary example.

“In order to make this house you need 30 logs, 15 iron, 2 cloth and have at least 45 experience in building, 85 Strength, 90 Intelligence 60 Stamina” or ‘To build this sword you need 55 Iron type A, 33 Iron type B, 23 wood etc or if here would be would be magic “You need 2 roots, 3 eggs, 1 chicken + 55 experience in magic to cast this 'Fire Ball'” or "If you eat 'this' bread you will learn faster or if you have 'this' fruit it will improve you stamina..." things like that.

Or would this be learning by discovering/playing + forum discussion/player based information?

Thanks

One of the things you can see, if you go to the store page here and click on digital items is a strategy guide that you can purchase separately or get with certain pledge packages.

That being said, we don't know what it will contain.

CoE is not meant to be a game where min-maxing stats is encouraged (although players will always try) so giving numbers like how much skill gain you get from successfully grown crops isn't likely to be included and is likely going to be discovered via gameplay.

The studio has been pretty consistent about their desire to leave the fun of discovery to the players themselves (through experimentation and exploration). That being said, it stands to reason that some knowledge will already exist in the world, and so while it is unlikely that we are going to find formulas in a strategy guide or any other official documentation, there may be books and NPC's in the world from whom we can learn things.
