The Duchy of Lyon is the community that will develop Brudvir Lore, Culture and Norse roleplay and fighting in Elyria EU. A place to meet other cold-hardened Brudvir and it's inspired menn and womenn who live in the Taiga and Alpine Forest of Selene, to fight, feast, drink and tell epic Sagas in the long Winterswatch and to have fun while surrounded by Brudvir folklore, tradition and survival in the Snow.
This is the icy Wolf's, frosty Bear's and frozen Elk's Den of the Realm of Snærsønr - Sons of Snow, the gathering of the Beasts of North, the free and true, cold-hardened Brudvir found in the northern parts of the Taiga and Alpine Forest in Elyria. To come together before and for the dire times of Winter near our Hearths of warmth to meet our kin, to find comfort beside our pack, to form skare’s for Hunts, clans in times of War, and most importantly become a bound Brotherhood of companions, brothers and sisters to the Wolf, Bear and Elk - sons and daughters of the Snow, living in the northern realm of Selene.
The Duchy of Lyon, in the Empire of Demalion, will be the hub of Brudvir culture bringing together sword and shield with plow and hearth to create epic adventures!
The Duchy of Lyon, in the Empire of Demalion, is and intends to be a vibrant international community with members from all over the world. The central goal of the duchy is to become an interesting and fascinating place to live. Players will encounter others from around the world working together on common goals. We will foster teamwork, between PvP and PvE groups and we welcome all guild sizes and will find a place for you, come and talk to us in the Duchy of Lyon Discord.
A duchy is a large place, some have said that it could be the size of 24 Skyrim maps. As such we need a wide diversity of playing styles. In addition to teamwork we aim to encourage and spark the creativity of it's members. Creative projects and guilds create the atmosphere and character of the duchy.
The capital city of Lyon intends to be a cultural hub to the duchy. Central to this plan is the creation of a University where players can come and learn any skill in order to advance more quickly. New technologies will be researched. Also, it is home to a unique martial arts fighting style as well as the seat of diplomatic and religious power. There will be a unique group of fighters who aim to run expeditions to distant lands in search of treasures. One county will be focused on commerce and in particular wine production. Another County will focus on gambling and a combat arena with prizes. There will be a county dedicated to promotion of healing arts and to the gods Angelica and Luna. Dotting the country side will be strongholds composed of Crusaders. There is a group of peaceful monks and nuns who earn their living off the land.

-We will focus on several areas to grow our economy:
Building Infrastructure. We will focus on roads, bridges, and ports. This will allow merchants to quickly move resources from their origin to centralized strategically placed markets. These trade routes must be secure.
Increase demand. Build the population by creating a fun place to be with lots of activities, including carnivals, arenas and games of chance.
Focus on research and development. It will be new technologies that will usher in economic prosperity.
Fair taxes. Create taxes that generate enough income for infrastructure but do not represent a burden for citizens.
Fair laws. Don’t create laws which hamper economic development. I have heard a Duke say he was going to ban weapons in his Duchy. This would clearly hamper economic development and has other inherent flaws.
The Three Pillars of Lyon are to aspire, create and enlighten. This means that before anything can happen we must first dream it or think about it. But a dream is nothing if we don't bring it into reality by creating it and making it real. Lastly, by sharing what we have built and learned with others we move the whole community forward.
Be free to dream and to explore the game in the manner you choose. You earned your soul and should be free to do as you wish. There will be no micro managing of players telling them what path they have to be on. Dream big.
Create what you want, be what you want. You want to have a noble order of Knights, make it. You want to create a tavern with gambling and other services, do it. Perhaps you want to build a spire dedicated to knowledge and history, go for it.
Rise to new heights by exploring the road less traveled. Take up meditation and Marital Arts to build up your body and your mind. Teach others what you have learned and bring them to new heights with you.
The duchy is run by the Council of Counts which is chaired by the Duke. A Parliament of Ministers, which reports to the Council, serves to administer various aspects of the duchy as well as to craft and propose laws to the Council of Counts. The following are the ministerial positions.
Coordinates diplomatic relations within and outside the duchy.
Oversees the banking operations and budget for the duchy. Produces quarterly reports as to the duchy expenses and revenues.
Appoints judges and supervises the courts within the duchy. Oversees, local police forces and jails.
Is responsible for the natural resources of the duchy. This includes surveying and mapping out these resources and for preservation and conservation concerns.
Studies and understands the agricultural needs of the duchy and ensures proper planning and development of agricultural resources.
This minister is responsible for promoting economic growth within the duchy. They study the the economic forces in the region and gather data helpful in decision making. They oversee technological development for the duchy.
In charge of the medical system for the duchy. We aim to have a health care system across the duchy which is supported by the duchy. This minister will also oversee medical research.
Oversees orphanages and social services. Social services will include coordinating donations and alms to the poor as well as orphans. This will ensure that orphans get a proper start in life as well the poor can get a fresh start.
By default this is the duty of the duke but may be delegated at some time. Coordinates the fighting forces of the duchy.
In charge of public buildings within the duchy. This will include the writing of contracts of occupancy for current developments and the planning of future developments.
Is responsible for the planning and construction of roads and bridges.
This minister will oversee universities and teaching facilities.

Scribe Society of Elyria Created by Mayor Gostotem. The Scribe Society of Elyria is a multi-server society of scribes in Elyria which primary focus is to ensure scribes are present in all kingdoms on all servers.
Settlement of White Arden By Mayor Rellik. The city itself is located on the coast, with an ancient tree located in the centre of it. Although the city itself was based upon a duel, due to its centralised location within the duchy and kingdom as well as its access to water with its dock, it had quickly become a merchant central and a trade outpost.
