I have a particular interest in the culture and iconography of the Phoenician-Punic times and, as such, try to blend fact and fiction by using some of the most well-known names of said times, alluding to my fondness of that part of history. Everything else will be pure fiction adapted to the Chronicles of Elyria.
CARTAGO, city in the duchy of Tyr Nansur, Nirath kingdom.
Cartago will be a city specialised in animal husbandry and associated industries. Its main purpose will be to encourage trade, knowledge and progress among its citizens, unions and organizations.
We want Cartago to become the go-to destination for the purchase of all kinds of animals: livestock, work, transport or exotic specimens.
Products and accessories related to these activities, such as: saddles, armour, carriages for people as well as goods and anything that might need animal power, will be manufactured in Cartago.
In order to do this, the city's government will focus on promoting the fauna of Elyria as the main driving force behind our economy. We will encourage specialization, we will help supply raw materials as well as anything that might be necessary for breeding, taming and researching any type of animal, especially those that can be used as a mount.
Manufacturing will be another of our main development models, encouraging specialization in the use of machinery that can be used with animals, as well as products that can be manufactured from them. In the same way as with the animal husbandry industry, we will promote and encourage specialization and we will help supply raw materials as well as anything that might be necessary for the manufacturing of related products.
"Manufactured in Cartago" will need to guarantee a product of the highest quality. We will put a lot of time into ensuring this is achieved. We want to attract those who wish to pursue a career in teaching to Cartago. Our aim is to offer our citizens, unions and organizations guaranteed access to higher levels of teachers and specializations.
Animal husbandry allows for many possibilities to be chosen as a way of life. In order to raise a horse you will have to provide him with food, shelter and armour. If you'd like to carry more objects on your mount or to have more space, you can add some bags or purchase a carriage. You won't just find horses in Elyria, you will come across many other animals that will serve different purposes. This allows the range of opportunities and possibilities to broaden considerably.
There are also a wide variety of occupations to choose from that can be combined in order to cut down many of the costs of manufacturing and transport, not to mention costs generated by piracy. This is what we aim to achieve in Cartago. We would like to gather people whose jobs are focused on a specific market. This way manufacturers will be able to offer high quality products and increase their benefits.
We are sure that our market will produce high quality products not just for visitors but also for people living in our city. Suppliers, manufacturers and merchants will live together in the same place.
The city's government will have a committee whose main goal will be to make it easier for citizens, unions and organizations to communicate with each other in order to encourage domestic trade. It will also strive to maintain balanced levels of competition according to the needs of the city. This will protect the interests and the coexistence of our citizens, unions and organizations.
CITY DESIGN
Cartago aims to be a meaningful city for both visitors and locals. Its districts, buildings, streets and squares show the remarkable style of the city.
There will also be time for leisure and entertainment. Horse racing, jousting and wrestling will be common activities in the city. You can either take part in the competition and fight for a reward or, given the legality of gambling in the city, just come to the show and bet for your favourite competitor. Of course, you can also just come to any event simply for the fun of it.
GOVERNMENT
Cartago city was founded by House BARCA. Aníbal Barca is the mayor of the city.
The government will be made up by two main components: the mayor, representing the aristocracy, and The Assembly, a group of representatives for the common folk.
The various functions of the government have been divided into various committees, each of them represented by a citizen who, once sworn in, will be known as a Specialist. These Specialists will receive benefits befitting their dedication to the city.
The committees are:
Diplomatic and Exploration Committee.
Treasury Committee.
Trade Committee.
Infrastructure Committee.
Investigation Committee.
Health Committee.
Religion Committee.
Justice and Security Committee.
In Cartago you have the freedom to live your life the way you see best. You can find a place to settle down and carry out your chosen way of life in or around the city.
Suppliers, manufacturers, merchants, and explorers whose activity is related to manufacturing and animal husbandry will be provided with the necessary support in order for them to achieve their objectives. This includes access to land and infrastructure as well as investment funds. Universities whose areas of expertise include manufacturing/animal husbandry and transport will be considered a priority and will have access to the same resources previously mentioned.
It does not stop there, however. In Cartago there is also room for other types of services and activities. We are also looking for people interested in creating gambling and auction houses, money lenders and fighting schools.
As gambling is permitted in the city, we will be organising many types of events on which you will be able to bet. Fair play will be encouraged and we will be very strict with regards to any type of foul play or cheating. Some of the events that we want to organise in the city include: horse racing, jousting, exotic animal shows, parkour championships and wrestling tournaments.
We are also looking for people, unions and organizations who wish to focus their activity in the art of fighting. We will need players who are willing to go to participate in any war that takes place in the beginnings of the game.
If you have read this far it is probably because you liked what you have read thus far or because you'd be interested in taking part in one way or another. We believe it's only fair that we go into as much detail as possible with regards to our plans, given they may affect you for better or for worse.
Cartago originates from a county (IA) with whom we are currently in conflict. This situation has made coexistence impossible and the government of Cartago is looking for a casus belli to conquer the county either by force or diplomacy.
//Off-Rol: Our motivations to declare war on the county are in relation to the available resources. We believe these resources will be better managed by the players and will be used in favour of its citizens and the kingdom.
We'd like to make clear that the war will not be against players, but against IA. It will be a PVE war; which doesn't mean that we'll be at war from day 1. It might be a few months before this actually happens, but it will happen. It's also important to mention that this could lead as easily to victory and great rewards as to defeat and the permanent death of your character.
If after everything you have read, you are still here, it means you are perfect for Cartago😊, however, none of this will come to fruition if we do not put in the work required.
There are many things to be done. Firstly, we are looking for players who want to take part in the creation, management and development of Cartago. We want to find people who are interested in trade, game policies, decision making, setting goals and designing plans to achieve them.
In order to complete our team we need 5 more people who meet certain requirements: is patient, has a deep knowledge of the game, is well informed and up to date regarding CoE and is familiarised with the existing communities in the EU server.
It goes without saying - if you choose to become involved, you will receive extra benefits. If you give your time to maintaining and developing a global project (which can be extremely fun), it's fair that you benefit from it. Of course, the same applies for the opposite, paying the price for a poorly done job.
The more people working together as a team, the more can be achieved. This is the main goal of this project, to join forces and enjoy all the possibilities that CoE has to offer.
ANÍBAL BARCA.
As a player, I'd say that I am extremely passionate about role-playing, MMO and strategy games. CoE uniquely combines all three of these. I found out about CoE in 2016 and was immediately hooked, supporting the project from the start of 2017 by acquiring a Magistrate package.
As a player I have previous experience in multiple MMOs: from Ultima Online, Linage, Star Wars Galaxies to Archeage. Among other strategy games I have played Civilization, Total War and Europa Universalis.
I have always tried to get people together who share the similar interests and have always enjoyed making the most out of what games have to offer, having created multiple long-lasting guilds. Chronicles of Elyria brings the dawn of a new era and, with luck, will see our little settlement rise and offer stories worthy of telling your grandchildren.
Professionally I work in film production creating advertising campaigns for different brands, and creative media projects.
